azz singer and celebrity Tompi mentioned Jakarta’s political situation during his performance at the 2017 Java Jazz Festival on Friday night.
Referring to his own performance, Tompi stated: “These days, Indonesia needs an arrogant person with the kind of arrogance that has dignity. Not the kind of arrogant [person] who only gives out sweet promises.”
His statement drew cheers from the audience.
“Jazz fans can’t be baper [touchy and over-emotional],” he told the crowd, generating roaring laughter as reported by Antara News Agency.

“Whoever wins, I hope Indonesia, Jakarta, gets better. For me personally, anyone can win, as long as they can make Jakarta better,” he continued.
After his brief speech, Tompi continued with his performance.
Tompi has publicly endorsed Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama for re-election in the gubernatorial election. (asw)
