Teddy Rahadianto’s name may not ring a bell for most Indonesians, but his products have made it to international exhibitions.
The young furniture designer will present his collection at the Design STARS Showcase of the International Furniture Fair Singapore (IFFS) from Thursday until Sunday.
Teddy has participated in several furniture trade shows, including the Palapa Network Competition and Exhibition in London and the International Events Furniture Expo (IFFEX) in Jakarta. Last year, he won the Indonesian Designer Challenge (IDC), which gave him the opportunity to join the Mozaik Indonesia exhibition.

Born and bred in Bandung, West Java, Teddy is a graduate of the Indonesian Arts Institute (ISI) in Yogyakarta. Despite studying interior design, he was drawn to furniture design, which led him to establish the Mandaka furniture brand.
“Interior [design feels too] spacious for me. I prefer to focus on the elements that fill the space, [which is] furniture,” Teddy told The Jakarta Post via email.
Teddy explained that his inspiration came from local heritage and that the Mandaka brand sought to combine traditional craftsmanship and local materials. “We [also] focus on the [products'] function and details,” explained Teddy, adding that the aesthetics needed to be in line with function. (kes)
