nline fashion retailer Zalora recently showcased its latest Muslim collections created by Zalia, its in-house design team, and the Indonesian designers Anniesa Hasibuan, Vivi Zubedi, Kamilaa by Itang Yunasz, Kami Idea and I.K.Y.K.

Held on Friday in Senayan City, the event presented around 60 new looks for men and women.

The Zalia collection, for instance, took on the theme "Enchanted Forest", inspired by natural elements and various plants, and applied them to elegant embroidery and motifs on princess cut gowns and mermaid-shaped skirts.

Anniesa, Vivi and Itang explored fun pastel colors, abaya (a long, loose black cloak that covers the body from shoulders to feet) and contemporary Indonesian batik and weaving motifs.

Meanwhile, Kami Idea presented its Macra and Lulla collections and I.K.Y.K. showcased Kazu, a tranquil-style design that means “harmony” in Japanese.

“We designed this collection intensively and exclusively for Southeast Asia. We put a lot of thought into every fabric choice, every color choice and the silhouettes,” said Rayne Reed, the company's regional private labels head.

Zalora Indonesia CEO Anthony Fung said he expected Zalia to be the go-to collection for women who want to follow current trends while looking modest and elegant.

"The Muslim collections from these five Indonesian designers will be available exclusively from Zalora."

For this show, Zalora applied a concept called “See Now Buy Now”, allowing customers to immediately access and purchase the collections online via the Zalora app while the fashion show took place.

The complete collection will be made available in mid-April. (vod/kes)
