If you’ve been wondering how to shake up your diet, here are some tips to eat like a Norwegian, as compiled by The Huffington Post.
Breakfast in Norway is very different from breakfast in Indonesia
You won’t find heavy carbs like rice or noodles at breakfast in Norway. Instead, try lighter options, such as rye bread with cheese, or maybe jam. Meats and fish like salami, ham, smoked salmon or pickled herring are often included, and coffee is a must-have along with the rest of your breakfast.

Still, waffles are extremely popular
You will find waffles in the afternoon as a side to yet more coffee. Thicker and richer in comparison to most other waffles, they are typically topped with brown cheese or sour cream and jam.
Seafood beats meat
Due to Norway’s abundant coastline, seafood is consumed with most meals, be it breakfast or an open-faced sandwich at lunch. Cured, smoked, pickled or dried are the most common ways to prepare fish due to Norway’s need to preserve food for long periods of time.
Thanks to its climate, Norway has some of the best fruits
Berries are particularly common, especially the bright orange cloudberry. They only grow in the wild, and where exactly they grow is a protected secret. They’re often served plain or with whipped cream. If not eaten right away, they are turned into jams to preserve. (sul/kes)
