fter Samsung’s recent stumbles featuring a line of phones with a tendency to explode, spectators were unsure how well the company would be able to recover. The answer now seems to be “pretty well,” thanks to pre-orders for the Galaxy S8.
Samsung said demand for the S8 and S8+ was the best that it had ever seen, setting a pre-order record.
Pre-sales for both devices were up 30 percent compared to 2016’s Galaxy S7 pre-orders, which was previously Samsung’s largest launch.

The tech giant has yet to release exact numbers, so comparisons to the iPhone 7’s launch numbers are not yet available. But when Samsung releases its quarterly report in July, the public will be able to see how the newest launch has effected the company.
So far, the S8 has garnered positive reviews, save for some customers complaining that their new phone’s display has a slightly reddish tint.
Even so, Samsung has confirmed that there is nothing wrong with the phone and displays will be changed in an upcoming software update. (sul/kes)
