ast year, famed scientist Stephen Hawking stated that in order to keep the human race alive, we would have to find and colonize a new planet, ideally within the next 1,000 years. Now, he has adjusted that time frame.
“Professor Stephen Hawking thinks the human species will have to populate a new planet within 100 years if it is to survive. With climate change, overdue asteroid strikes, epidemics and population growth, our planet is in danger,” reads the description of Stephen Hawking: Expedition New Earth on the BBC website.

Stephen Hawking: Expedition New Earth will feature the scientist and his colleagues and their trip around the world to find if and how humans should begin to colonize new planets.
“We must continue to go into space for the future of humanity,” said Hawking in 2016. “I don’t think we will survive another 1,000 years without escaping beyond our fragile planet." (sul/kes)
