T

he fifth instalment of the Pirates of the Caribbean series marks the return of Captain Jack Sparrow played by Johnny Depp and his adventures searching for the fabled Poseidon’s trident.

With the help of other supporting characters, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is said to be the best film of the series according to its directors, Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg.

The film starts with Sparrow losing his most treasured compass, which leads him to Captain Salazar, the ghost pirate and the movie's villain, played by Javier Bardem. The only chance for Sparrow to survive is to find Poseidon’s trident with the help of Carina Smyth, an astronomer, played by Kaya Scodelario, and Henry, portrayed by Brenton Thwaites, the son of Will Turner who used to sail with the British Royal Army.

Without his beloved ship known as the Black Pearl, Sparrow has to travel for a while with the worn-out Dying Gull to help himself and the others break all curses in the sea.

Unlike other instalments of the series, this one is relatable and relatively easy to watch. Despite the simple plot, the film offers amazing cinematography and animation that will take the audience to different tropical islands.

The movie also includes the old iconic characters, such as Mr. Gibbs played by Kevin McNally, Scrum played by Stephen Graham, Captain Hector Barbossa played by Geoffrey Rush, and of course Will Turner played by Orlando Bloom.

The fifth and maybe the last instalment of the series, according to Disney, runs for more than two hours, but make sure to wait until the end of the movie as there is an end credit you do not want to miss. (vod/kes)
