preading his wings in the United States for the first time, Indonesian rapper Rich Chigga was interviewed by musician and entrepreneur Pharrell Williams and Scott Vener on OTHERtone, a show on Apple’s Beats 1 radio station.

For around 11 minutes, they talked about Chigga’s life, including his music video Dat $tick, the reason why he chose ‘Rich Chigga’ as his stage name, his relationship with a girl online and American rapper Tyler, The Creator.

Pharrell, who is also one of Chigga’s favorite musicians, then let him talk to Tyler, The Creator by phone. This happened after Vener asked him whether he had ever meet Tyler in person. Chigga later posted a photo of him talking with Tyler on his Instagram account.

At the end of the show, Chigga handed Pharrell a ring from his father.

“My dad likes to collect rings and he knows about you and he’s like, ‘Brian can you give him this ring?’ because he collects a bunch of rings and this is one of his most expensive ones,” he told Pharrell.

“What? Your dad told you to give me [the ring]?” said Pharrell and then showed the ring to the camera. After asking Chigga’s father's name, he did a shout-out to his father, “Shout to Heru. Dude.”

According to kompas.com, Chigga had been interviewed by one of the most popular hip hop magazines in US, XXL Magazine.

Born on September 1999, Rich Chigga or Brian Imanuel gained public attention following the debut of Dat $tick, which was released in March last year.

The music video has so far been watched more than 48 million times on YouTube. (wir/kes)
