Teen-oriented magazine Hai has announced that it will cease print publication this month.
een-oriented magazine Hai has announced that it is ceasing its print publication this month. The magazine has been published since 1977.
An editorial on the Hai website announces that the magazine will be going fully digital.
“[Whether you] realize it or not, the digital era has evolved tremendously,” says the official statement, adding that it is the time for Hai to explore it.
The editorial also says that the digital platform was established to deliver real-time news to connected audiences.
“This cannot be done if we are still [relying] on the limited pages and the weekly issue,” explains the official statement.

On the last issue, the magazine shares links to Hai’s new platforms, such as Facebook Live and YouTube Channel.
“Therefore, you will understand why we #needmorespace,” says the editorial.
The hashtag #needmorespace was emblazoned on the cover of the magazine’s last print issue.
Published every Monday, Hai was considered the only teen-oriented male magazine in Indonesia. The publication covers several topics, varying from entertainment, school and entrepreneurship to art.
The website was launched in 2000. Prior to that, the website served as the supporting platform for its print publication. (asw)
