ourteen-year-old Musa Izzanardi "Izzan" Wijanarko has reportedly passed the recent Joint Entrance Test for State Universities (SBMPTN), allowing him to become a student in the math and science school at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) in West Java.

Kompas.com reported that Izzan had actually taken the test twice, but did not pass it last year.

The boy is said to indeed excel in math and science. “Among the 10 tests, Izzan found difficulty in the Bahasa Indonesia [subject],” said his mother, Yanti Herawati, adding that Izzan also did well in an assessment of his learning potential.

According to tempo.co, Izzan was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The active boy was then home-schooled and tutored by Yanti.

His mother said that Izzan wants to be a physics and nuclear scientist, adding that he aimed to graduate faster than his sister, who currently studies at ITB with a 3.9 grade point average.

Yanti and her husband expressed happiness about having raised an intelligent child, although they also became worried upon realizing that Izzan would need to adapt to the far older students. (jes/kes)
