anye West has cut ties with Tidal and terminated an exclusive rights deal with Jay-Z's streaming service apparently because of a financial dispute, as reported by Engadget.
West, one of Tidal's 16 original artist-owners, left the company because it owed him "more than US$ 3 million", according to a report published by TMZ.
The amount was calculated after he allegedly lured in 1.5 million new subscribers after releasing his latest album, The Life of Pablo, via the service in February last year.
West also claims that Tidal has not reimbursed him for music videos that he made for the service.

TMZ’s source, however, denies the claim, saying that Tidal has not paid out the money because West has not delivered the videos as required by the contract.
A legal battle has not yet arisen, though this is not out of the realm of possibility. West and Tidal mastermind Jay-Z have had a close relationship in the past. The relationship has lately taken a turn for the worse.
Tidal also recently sent a letter to Kanye threatening to sue if he signed an exclusive agreement with one of its rival services. (liz/asw)
