Social media network Twitter has updated its mute feature, allowing users to filter out accounts deemed annoying.

On its support page, Twitter explains that the new quality filter allows users to disable notifications from accounts they don’t follow, new accounts, accounts that don’t follow the users and accounts with a default profile photo that the users don’t follow.

Available on the web, iOS and Android versions, the advanced filter setting also lets users turn off notifications from accounts without a confirmed email address or phone number.
Those wanting to set the filter on Twitter’s web version can go to “Notifications” and click on “Settings.” Meanwhile, for iOS and Android versions, users can go to the “Notifications” setting available under the gear icon.
According to Endgadget, Twitter has since last year started to update its setting to address rampant abuses issues. (jes/asw)
