ritten by Derek Haas and Michael Brandt, who previously collaborated on TV series (Chicago P.D., Chicago Justice) and films (2 Fast 2 Furious, 3:10 to Yuma, Wanted) , this movie brings the fast cars familiar in action and heist flicks. What they introduced as new was a focus on classic cars of the 20th century.
The movie opens up with an auction for a Bugatti Type 57 S Atlantic, overseen by two mysterious looking men (Pierre Marie-Masconie and Frédéric Anscombre), as a bidder named Franck (Kaaris) won the car by shelling out millions of dollars.
Meanwhile expert car thieves, brothers Andrew (Scott Eastwood) and Garret (Freddie Thorp) Foster, scout an area to get the car for Panahi (Moussa Maaskri). However, it is soon revealed that Franck was getting the Bugatti for local crime boss Jacomo Morier (Simon Abkarian) instead, who already owned numerous beautiful classic cars. In exchange for not getting killed, the Foster brothers cut a deal to steal his rival Max Klemp's (Clemens Schick) most prized possession: a vintage Ferrari.
Guns and beautiful cars in action rush through their mission in Marseilles, as they assemble their team. The members include unnamed local street racers, Devin (Gaia Weiss) the thief, explosives specialist Leon (Joshua Fitoussi) and tech expert Stephanie (Ana de Armas).

Drama comes from Andrew and Stephanie’s conflict over his protectiveness, the Foster brothers’ plan to retire and Garret and Devin’s romance. The heist’s mark may also be not quite as expected.
The movie’s beautiful vintage motors is certainly a feast for the eyes, especially for enthusiasts. However it seems that their use in the movie’s action is minimal compared to how modern sport cars are depicted in heists. Perhaps that owes to the large costs involved in insuring them. The movies also has its humorous moments, but it is mostly just mildly amusing.
The acting is not quite in the reach of fellow car and heist movie Fast and Furious, although the action and effects not reaching the same level is understandable considering the difference in the size of their budgets. The drama is a bit predictable and the romance is like the average subplot in such action flicks.
The movie could be a fun way to pass the time if you like to feast your eyes upon classic cars and see them in deadly chases even for a short while. (dan/kes)
