pple officially launched an Instagram account on Tuesday to show off photographers' work from around the world that were shot with an iPhone and have been previously uploaded on the social media platform.
With its handle @apple, the account in its description invites users to use the tag #ShotoniPhone for a chance to be featured on it.
As many as nine posts have been uploaded by the end of the first day. Each post is actually an album, with each page featuring a video slideshow of the photographers' work accompanied by a sound clip of them talking about photography.
As reported by The Verge, the account is Apple's first platform to highlight iPhone photography, which is a large part of the company's brand and marketing.
The same phrase "Shot on iPhone", has been used by Apple on billboards around the world, including in New York City.

The tech company already maintains multiple verified Instagram accounts, including for Apple Music, iTunes, Beats 1, iBooks, Carpool Karaoke and Planet of the Apps.
Speculated rose on Apple's decision to wait to launch its official account because of past tension between the company and Instagram, according to The Verge.
The firm's senior vice president of worldwide marketing, Phil Schiller, in 2012 deleted his account after the app launched on Android. Schiller said at the time that it did not have anything to do with Android, rather that the platform had grown too big for his own liking.
Instagram, which Apple named "app of the year" in 2011, now has 700 million monthly active users and grown to be the primary photo-sharing app for smartphone users. (liz/kes)
