head of the IPhone X pre-order that is set to open on Oct. 27, an analyst has predicted that Apple would not be able to meet the demand for the sought-after smartphone by year's end, according to reports.
Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst from KGI Securities, expects 40 million iPhone X units to be sold by the end of the year, as reported by GSM Arena over the weekend.
Kuo believes Apple won't be able to meet market demand before the first half of 2018, adding that any handset the company is unable to build this year would translate to sales next year.

A common source of intel on all things Apple, Kuo estimates 2018 shipment to be between 80 million and 90 million iPhone X units.
The new OLED edge-to-edge display and the advance front-facing 3D-scanning camera are predicted to be among the challenges that are holding down production.
The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus meanwhile had kicked-off pre-orders on Sept. 15 with some some markets already expecting shipping delays, as initial stock is already shrinking, according to GSM Arena. (liz/kes)
