ndonesian latest horror film Pengabdi Setan (Satan’s Slave) reportedly has attracted more than 1 million audiences in the first week of its release.
Directed by Joko Anwar, it recently has also been nominated in 13 out of 22 categories at the annual Indonesian Film Festival (FFI) 2017, making the reboot of the 1980s' horror classic one of the most nominated films at the event.
The FFI 2017 ceremony is slated on Nov. 11 in Manado, North Sulawesi.
Riri Riza, the head of FFI 2017 panel judges, said the judging system began with group discussions involving Indonesia’s film industry communities that proposed their best choices to get nominated.
“The nominees tonight are films that can adequately illustrate the achievement on the idea of aesthetics and also the highest professionalism in the film industry,” Riri told a press conference in Jakarta on Thursday.

Sunil and the rest of the film crew are said to fly to Manado to join the award ceremony.
“We really hope we can bring the awards home, but again it all depends on the panel of judges to choose which one deserves to be the winner.” he added. (adh/kes)
