P

op culture event Indonesia Comic Con is set to return for the third time for two days from Oct. 28 to 29 at the Jakarta Convention Center in Senayan, South Jakarta. This year’s event presents new celebrity guests and new content that should not be missed.

For those wanting to attend, here are details of the event that will come in handy on the day.

Various zones

Just like in previous years, this year’s Indonesia Comic Con will occupy two halls, A and B. Zombie fans might want to check out Fox’s The Walking Dead Escape Room in Hall A. Star Wars geeks should check Disney’s Star Wars located in the same hall. Meanwhile, those who want to compete in a gaming battle or get the event’s merchandise can go to Hall B.

Moreover, both halls are divided into different zones that represent different themes in the pop culture scene. The Artist Alley zone in Hall B, for example, will be filled with the works of independent artists. Toy collectors might also want to check out The Toys Hunting Ground in Hall B where limited edition toys from the past will be on display.

Celebrity guests

Indonesia Comic Con is set to present two celebrity guests this year. The first one is American actor Jason David Frank, who is known for his role as Tommy Oliver or the original Green Ranger on children’s television series Power Rangers. Frank also has his web reality show entitled My Morphing Life. “It’s my very first time in Jakarta, [so] I’m excited with Indonesia Comic Con – I couldn’t sleep last night,” Frank said during the press conference on Thursday.

Frank is scheduled to appear on the Empire Stage in Hall A. “It’s more like a panel, but there will be action,” said Ruth Noviana, the senior project manager of ReedPOP, the event organizer. However, Ruth did not want to reveal whether Frank would appear in his Power Rangers outfit or not.

The second guest is New Zealand actor Daniel Logan, who is known as young Boba Fett in Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones. “There will be a talk show [with him], but it’s more into how he became the young Boba Fett,” Ruth explained. Logan’s panel can also be seen at the Empire Stage in Hall A.

Sneakers and Game tournament zones

Sneakerheads may want to visit Indonesia Comic Con 2017 as the event has a particular zone for sneakers in Hall B as part of its new content. “There will be around 22 tenants [in this zone],” said Ruth. “Sneakerheads can hunt for limited edition sneakers there.”

Similarly, this is also the first time for the event to present GX, gaming-focused content by Comic Con and Jakarta Game Fest, in Hall B. As part of the event’s gaming zone, there will be five tournaments during the event, among them are Tekken 7, Marvel vs Capcom Infinite and Vain Glory.

Those who want to experience the latest Indonesia Comic Con can consider purchase tickets via its website with the price starting at Rp 100,000 for a day. On-site tickets are also available at the venue. (asw)
