nstagram users can now follow hashtags with their accounts, as the social media platform aims to make it easier for people to connect with relevant interests and hobbies.
Announced on Wednesday, Instagram said in a statement that it had officially rolled out the new feature, saying that following a hashtag would be the same as following a friend. Users could begin by finding a topic they like or click on a hashtag included in any post, which would lead to a page with a collection of its relevant images. A "Follow" button can be found on top of the page.

"When you find a hashtag that you like, open the hashtag name and click on the 'Follow' button. You would begin to see the best posts from the said hashtag on your feed, as well as several of the newest Stories on the Stories row," the statement said.
As it is with following a friend, the hashtag is included in the user's "Following" list and can subsequently be unfollowed at any time.
"Follow hashtag is the beginning of our efforts to continue to provide features that enable you to find and gain inspiration from the Instagram community," Instagram said. (kes)
