K-pop boy band SHINee’s Jonghyun died in hospital Monday. He was 28.

Jonghyun was rushed to the hospital after being found unconscious at a residence in Cheongdam-dong, southern Seoul, police said.

Police said they received a telephone call from his sister at 4:42 p.m. Monday, saying she thought he may have attempted suicide.

The singer was found with a burning coal briquette nearby. Police say they will investigate the incident as a suspected suicide.
