ollowing the news about Celine Dion’s Jakarta concert ticket prices reaching Rp 25 million (US$ 1,882) for the reserve-only Diamond category, the show’s promoter has revealed what the audience members will get for their money.
Logically, they will be closer to the Grammy-award winning singer during the show as they will sit in the front. “Right in front of Celine Dion,” said Peter Harjani, CEO of PK Entertainment as one of the concert’s promoters, after a press conference in Central Jakarta on Thursday, Jan. 18.
“There will be no meet and greet,” Peter continued, then added that there would be no welcome drinks or dinner. “Her average show is one and a half hour. We have asked her to bring all of her hit songs, hopefully, she will take aboard our requests.”
The high ticket prices have aroused a variety of reactions among Dion’s Indonesian fans, especially compared to prices for her show in Japan. But Peter said it actually depended on the venue capacity. “If we take a look at the capacity, the Tokyo Dome [Japan] is 40,000, while our capacity is 10,000 […] and our production costs are the same,” he explained. “The reason why our prices are higher is because the production costs are the same although our capacity is far less than other countries.”

During the press conference, the marketing director of PK Entertainment, Harry Sudarma, also explained about the price. “Actually we already discussed the ticket price internally and with Celine Dion’s management,” Harry stated. “So all of the listed prices are based on her management team’s approval.”
The crooner of “All by Myself” is scheduled to perform (http://www.thejakartapost.com/life/2018/01/12/celine-dion-set-to-dazzle-indonesian-fans-in-july.html) for the first time in Indonesia on July 7 at Sentul International Convention Center in Bogor, West Java. Peter said that 80 people will come along Dion, including her crew and family.
“For now we’re in the process of production. We have to make the stage similar or even greater than [the one in] Las Vegas,” Peter stated.
According to the official website (http://www.celinedionjkt.com/) of Celine Dion Jakarta, the tickets are already available only for Mandiri cardholders for two weeks starting from Jan. 19 at 11 a.m. to Feb. 1. Public sales will open on Feb. 2 at 11 a.m. (asw)
Editor's note: an earlier version of this article noted that Ms. Dion's show typically lasts half an hour. The correction has been made into one and a half hour.
