A

head of the upcoming release of Marvel Studios' Black Panther, Disney Indonesia has collaborated with six Indonesian fashion labels to create designs inspired by the superhero film.

Launched at a fashion show in Jakarta on Wednesday, participating local labels include Populo Batik, Matahari Department Store, JD.ID, Monstore, Shop at Velvet and Canvas Living.

Mochtar Sarman, Disney Indonesia's consumer products director, said the designs were created with a young audience in mind, as they feature the latest trends and style, according to kompas.com.

"We deliberately worked with local designers, to create local products for local consumers," Sarman said.

In line with the film, made by Disney's Marvel subsidiary, the color schemes are dominated by colors such as black, white, grey, charcoal and silver. Labels Matahari Department Store, Monstore, Canvas Living and JD.ID mostly stuck with the monochromatic colors for their casual-style clothing.

Meanwhile, Shop at Velvet presents greater variety with yellow, red and green hues, which were inspired by Nakia's character, played in the movie by Lupita Nyong'o.

Populo Batik has included an Indonesian touch in its designs, as it incorporates Gunungan motif batik, which corresponds with starring character T'challa, the Black Panther, played by Chadwick Boseman. (liz/kes)
