Three years after releasing Sinestesia in 2015, indie rock band Efek Rumah Kaca (ERK) is currently preparing its fourth album.

The band's drummer Akbar Bagus Sudibyo said the mini album, which will feature five or six tracks, is set to be released this year.

He added that because of time and distance constraints among the members, the recording process could be a bit complicated.

Vocalist Cholil Mahmud is currently living in the United States. Hence, the recording process has to adjust with that. “We’re doing the recording here [Indonesia] and there [US],” Akbar told Antara.

The band, consisting of Akbar Bagus Sudibyo, Cholil and Poppie Airil, is known for being vocal concerning social issues through its songs. They say the band will remain that way on the fourth album.

“Up until now, it’s still a rough draft. Usually the issues will come out when we’re ready for the recording,” Akbar said.

Established in the 2000s, ERK was among Indonesia’s representatives at the South by Southwest Conference and Festival (SXSW) held in Austin Convention Center, Texas, US, in March, which also featured duo KimoKal and Rich Brian. (wir/kes)
