life-sized golden sculpture of Harvey Weinstein is temporary on display at Hollywood Boulevard, near to the Dolby Theatre, the venue of the 90th Academy Awards.
Dubbed “Casting Couch”, ABC News reported that the statue depicts the Hollywood studio mogul in a bathrobe, sitting on a couch with an Oscar in hand.
Made of fiberglass and acrylic resin, the statue was created by a Los Angeles street artist known as Plastic Jesus and Joshua “Ginger” Monroe, a designer known for 2016’s nude Donald Trump.

The two artists wanted to bring up the entertainment industry’s sexual misconduct crisis and Weinstein's role in it.
"There's so much about Hollywood that's great and celebrated in the Oscars, but there's also this underbelly of darkness within the industry that we often sweep under the carpet or ignore," said Plastic Jesus.
“The phrase "casting couch", used to describe the demand of sexual favors for work, may seem a relic of a bygone era, but it is still very much a part of the Hollywood culture," added Plastic Jesus, who, last year, produced a statue of Kanye West in a crucified pose.
Weinstein’s scandal first came into the spotlight in Oct. 2017, following a story published in the New York Times detailing decades of sexual harassment allegations. Since then, over 100 women have come forward to accuse Weinstein of sexual misconduct. (jes)
