aritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Susi Pudjiastuti graced the runway of Indonesia Fashion Week (IFW) 2018 at the Jakarta Convention Center on March 29. The minister donned a kebaya by renowned designer Anne Avantie.
The fashion show, themed “Sekarayu Sriwedari”, also celebrated Anne’s 29 years in design, and showcased 100 outfits as reported by kompas.com.
Minister Susi appeared in the event’s Pasar Tiban session as a featured guest model after a string of celebrities such as Krisdayanti, Nia Ramadhani, Jessica Iskandar and Vanesha Prescilla strut down the runway, modeling Anne’s elegant kebaya.

The graceful minister, dressed in flaming-red traditional attire, garnered a huge applause from the audience as she took confident steps on the runway, with her phoenix tattoo out on display.
“I asked her whether she wanted to cover her tattoo, but she said no. It’s OK if it’s visible,” Anne told kompas.com in the preparation of the event.
A seven-year client-designer relationship between Susi and Anne made the minister’s rare appearance at such an event happen. “When I asked her where she would like to appear from, she said she would like to appear from where models do. So she’ll be coming on to the stage from the back side, just like the other models,” Anne said prior to the event.
Aside from celebrating Anne Avantie’s career, the event also celebrated legendary kroncong singer Waldjinah’s 60 years of contributions to the country.
