ESMOD students showcase work in Marvel-inspired fashion competition

In celebration of the "Year of Marvel", Disney Indonesia and ESMOD Jakarta are collaborating for a fashion design competition inspired by Marvel characters and stories.

n celebration of the "Year of Marvel", Disney Indonesia and ESMOD Jakarta are collaborating for a fashion design competition inspired by Marvel characters and stories. The competition will also welcome Marvel Studio’s upcoming movie Avengers: Infinity War, which premieres in April.

Country head of The Walt Disney Company, Indonesia, Herry Salim said in a press release, “We always look for creative and fun ways to emotionally bond with Indonesian fans.”

The winning designs will be exhibited at Marvel Studios’ 'Avengers: Infinity War' event at Mal Kota Kasablanka from April 20 to May 13.

“The year 2018 is the 10th anniversary of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and we are very happy to be able to collaborate with ESMOD Jakarta in bringing an interesting experience for the students to explore their storytelling ability and also creativity in achieving their dreams,” he added.

Winners of the competition were announced at Fashion Nation 2018 in Jakarta on Tuesday. Ryan Tjendana won first place with his work that was inspired by the Black Panther character. In second and third place were Mellysa and Martina, respectively, whose works were inspired by superheroes Spider-Man and Black Panther.

Academic program manager of ESMOD Jakarta, Patrice Dessiles said, “The collaboration between ESMOD Jakarta and Disney Indonesia has given such inspiration and challenged our students to create unexpected things from the superhero characters. I always support the students to innovate, and here are their ready-to-wear and sports collections with a touch of Marvel's superheroes.”
