The 2018 lineup of iPhones may get USB-C fast chargers and cables straight out of the box.

These next-generation iPhones would come with more powerful 18-watt power adapters to allow fast charging from 0 to 50 percent in just around 30 minutes, according to a report on Chinese site Chongdiantou via MacRumors.

Apple has yet to confirm the inclusion of a new charger with its new iPhones, but the move appears logical considering the company already switched to USB-C on its MacBooks.

Current iPhones come packaged with a small 5-watt charger and a USB-A to Lighting cable. Customers have the option of upgrading the chargers of iPhone 8 devices up to iPhone X and iPads by purchasing a $49 (about P2,500) USB-C power adapter and a Lightning to USB-C cable priced at $25, or around P1,200.

Considering the hefty price tag of the iPhone X alone, it would be a big benefit for users to have an upgraded charger included in the package.

So far, Lightning to USB-C cables are only available from Apple, which limits customer options. It is still uncertain whether Apple will allow its partners to make the cables after 2019 or keep it as proprietary technology.
