Srimulat member Nurbuat passes away

Comedian Nurbuat has passed away at the of 69. He will be buried in Ambarawa district, Central Java.

Veteran comedian Nurbuat from the Srimulat comedy group has passed away at the age of 69 on Thursday at 10:30 p.m.

According to a message received by The Jakarta Post, Nurbuat will be buried in Ambarawa district, Central Java.

Born on April 1, 1949, Nurbuat kicked off his career at the tender age of 21 by joining ludruk (traditional Javanese comedy) group Anoraga.

In 1979, he joined Mandala ludruk group and frequently performed in Sarinah, Central Java.

Tempo.co  reported that Nurbuat joined Srimulat in 1982. He was known for his plesetan (funny word plays), “Hil yang mustahal”.

However, the word plays, which mean "impossible things", were popularized by his fellow comedian Asmuni. (jes/asw)
