Robert Zemeckis will direct the movie adaption of Roald Dahl's "The Witches", alongside producer Guillermo del Toro and Alfonso Cuarón.
Academy Award-winner Robert Zemeckis has signed on to direct Warner Bros. movie adaption of The Witches, by Roald Dahl.
As quoted from The Hollywood Reporter, fellow Best Director winner Guillermo del Toro that has been attached to the adaption since obtaining the rights will act as producer alongside Alfonso Cuarón.
Zemeckis, who will also write the film with Jack Rapke, will produce as well.
The director is known for Back to the Future films, and won an Oscar in 1994 as Best Director for Forrest Gump.
Warner Bros. currently has another Dahl film in the works: a remake of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, with Paddington director Paul King attached.
The Witches follows a boy who comes across a coven of child-hating witches he must stop, despite the fact that he has been turned into a mouse.
It was previously adapted in 1990 by Warner Bros. into a film starring Anjelica Huston. (sul/wng)
