Memories of My Body marks Garin's return to the 2018 Venice International Film Festival after Opera Jawa (2006).
ndonesian film Kucumbu Tubuh Indahku (Memories of My Body) by celebrated director Garin Nugroho has entered the Orizzonti competition at the 75th Venice International Film Festival slated to run from Aug. 29 to Sept. 8.
Produced by Fourcolours Film, the film was inspired by the life of international dancer and choreographer Rianto, who experienced discrimination over his dance group.
“Film is a medium of expression that could be about ourselves, our aesthetical journey, what we see or feel in our social environment, politics, or even our criticism and statements regarding issues around us,” said Garin as quoted by tempo.co on Friday.
