Bekraf Habibie Festival 2018 seeks to introduce new tech innovations to youngsters

The festival, which will be held at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta from Sept.20 - 23, is open to the public, with free admission.

T

he Bekraf Habibie Festival seeks to instill the use of technology in the younger generation’s everyday lives. The festival’s CEO and cofounder, Sachin V. Gopalan, told Antara on Thursday at JIExpo Kemayoran, “Technology should enter people’s homes to banish fear and be accepted for its benefits.”

The technology festival is held to celebrate BJ Habibie’s role in the technology world and introduce creations and innovations to young people. 

“This exhibition is not for products. It is a place to showcase innovations that will set the trend for the next five years,” said Sachin.

Creative Economy Agency (Bekraf) infrastructure deputy Hari Sungkari said the festival was held to spread a “positive virus” to the younger generation. “The creative economy will always need technology, especially those who want their businesses to grow,” he added.

Divided into several zones; Innovation Bazaar, Makerland, A to B the Future of Transportation, M2 The Future of Living, Sport Zone, Innovation Jam, Fin Tech 2.0, Infusion, Robomania and Food Fest, the festival aims to lure 100,000 visitors. The festival is also slated to launch Berkarya! Akademi as a coordinating organization for future jobs and skills. The academy will be launched in various cities in Indonesia with more than 80 training sessions for 4,000 participants.
