The event’s organizing committee head, Nazaruddin ZA, said that compared to previous years, this year's event would be different with a highlight on Islamic percussion music. Performances would also include rapai and traditional percussion with no modern music.

“In addition to musical performances, we will also host cultural workshops, historical site visits and pre-event [activities],” added Nazaruddin.

ACIRAF is among the 100 Wonderful Indonesia 2018 events. The Tourism Ministry has appointed Lhokseumawe to host the event because of the town’s success in preserving the traditional rapai percussion. (jes)
