outh Korean girl group BLACKPINK is set to perform in Jakarta on Jan. 20, 2019 as part of their first world tour, “In Your Area”.

The group posted the announcement on their official Instagram account on Thursday.

BLACKPINK’s management YG Entertainment announced in September that the tour would kick off in Seoul on Nov. 10. Since then, seven more stops have been added, including Jakarta and member Lisa’s hometown Bangkok.

The concert will not be the group’s first visit to Indonesia, as Lisa held a fan meet and greet in Jakarta in August, while BLACKPINK as a whole will perform at a Shopee Indonesia event at Sentul International Convention Center in December.

Plans are in place for the quartet to be joined by a live band on stage throughout the tour, a first for any K-pop girl group.

BLACKPINK has gained immense popularity ever since the release of their EP, Square Up, in June. The album’s lead single, “Ddu-du Ddu-du”, peaked at No. 55 on the Billboard Hot 100, the highest ever for an all-female K-pop act, and its music video has over 450 million views on YouTube.

Additionally, member Jennie is set to make her solo debut with “Solo” on Nov. 12, and the remaining members are planning to follow in her footsteps. (iru/wng)
