he Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping seasons are a United States tradition, but this does not stop retailers in Indonesia from joining in.
Black Friday refers to the day after Thanksgiving, which fell on Friday, Nov. 22 this year. It is also considered the first day of Christmas shopping. Cyber Monday is the Monday after Thanksgiving.
Here are some Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals offered in Indonesia for anyone who wants to grab themselves a bargain:
The Indonesian subsidiary of Chinese e-commerce giant JD.id is offering a discount coupon code of Rp 25,000 (US$1.72) on purchases of Rp 2,500,000 or more. Available for four days from Nov. 23 to 26, the coupon suits those who want to buy smartphones and tablets online.
Among the electronic devices listed in the promotion are Google Pixel C tablet, Apple iPad Pro, Samsung Galaxy J8 and Xiaomi Redmi Note 5.
Alila is offering a 40 percent discount code for its hotels, including in Bali, Malaysia, India and Oman. The discount is valid until Nov. 27 for stays anytime between Nov. 23, 2018 and Dec. 31, 2019.

Online fashion retailer Zalora does not want to miss out on the Black Friday and Cyber Monday hype, and is offering slashed prices for four days from Nov. 23 to 26. Using "blackfriday" as the special code, there will be an additional 18 percent discount with purchases of Rp 199,000 or more and 22 percent for purchases of Rp 399,000 and or more.
The products included in the promotion program are women’s accessories, bags and shoes.
Online fashion and lifestyle shopping destination MAP EMALL is providing Black Friday discounts for the brands and department stores within MAP Group, namely Galeries Lafayette, Mango, Sogo and Swarovski. Most of them are offering 30 percent discounts, with the promotion available for four days from Nov. 23 to 26.
France’s Galeries Lafayette department store, for example, is offering discounts on women's and men's clothing, as well as home and living collections. (wir/kes)
