Aceh province, one of the country’s premium coffee producers, organized the sixth annual International Banda Aceh Coffee Festival at Blang Padang square in Banda Aceh from May 10-12. The event was aimed at promoting locally produced coffee to tourists.

Sipping coffee is a part of the culture of Banda Aceh with ubiquitous coffee shops at every corner and turn, earning the city the title of “the city of 1,001 coffee shops”.

The event highlighted two signature coffees: Gayo Arabica coffee and Gayo Robusta coffee. The coffee festival included several activities, including barista competitions, coffee talks and stands for café business players from across Aceh. [dmr]
