Seven couples from various backgrounds got married in a joint wedding at Yogyakarta's famous Tugu Station on Sept. 6, initiated by the Indonesia Taaruf Forum [Fortais] in collaboration with the Yogyakarta administration and Yogyakarta's state-owned train operator PT KAI.

The couples were chosen from a pool of many to participate in the event titled "Joint-wedding in Tugu Station: Love Station for the Future" after advancing through a selection process.

Not a penny was spent by the couples as the organizers provided them with free dowries, wedding rings, attire, documentation, hotel bridal stays and wedding gifts.

Six out of the seven couples exchanged their wedding vows at the East entrance of Tugu station, while the youngest couple at the event, Crysna Marsono [23] and Kania Restu Fauzi [20], wed aboard the Prambanan Express train.

The joint-wedding event was the first of its kind held at Tugu Station and could be a pioneer for similar events to take place at other stations. The organizers aimed to spread happiness as well as to strengthen Yogyakarta as the city of culture. [rin]
