JAKARTA: Shareholders of Bandung-based Bank Tabungan Pensiunan Nasional (BTPN), which specializes in managing pension funds, on Wednesday appointed senior executive Jerry Ng as the bank's new president director.

Jerry, an acquisitions specialist, is a former vice president director of Bank Danamon, the nation's fifth-largest lender, and an executive at Bank Central Asia, the nation's third-largest bank.

BTPN, controlled by U.S. private equity firm Texas Pacific Group, is planning to open 100 branches within the next six months, mostly in Sumatra, Kalimantan and eastern Indonesia.

Established in 1958 as a pensioners' savings bank, BTPN now operates as a fully fledged commercial bank with 400 offices throughout the country. (rff)
