JAKARTA: The Indonesian Corruption Watch (ICW) reported Merauke Regent Johanes Glubagebze to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Friday for alleged corruption.
ICW deputy coordinator Danang Widoyoko said the Supreme Audit Agency had reported that the corruption case, which took place in the Papuan town, had resulted in state losses of at least Rp 42 billion (US$4.4 million) through the misuse of the regency's budgets between 2006 and 2008.
"There had been overspending of an operational allowance worth a total of Rp 6.4 billion allocated for the regent and deputy regent and misappropriation of the regency's budget worth a total of Rp 37.2 billion," he said.
He said the Merauke regent and deputy regent had received a number of yearly allowances of between Rp 7.5 million and Rp 400 million, including a state official fund for financial management coordination and for cars.
"The KPK should follow up the report," he insisted. -- JP
