KUPANG, E. Nusa Tenggara: The 743/Pratnya Samapta Yudha battalion will hand over the task of protecting the Indonesia-Timor Leste border to the 744/Satria Yudha Bhakti Battalion and the 161/Wirasakti Kupang Military Command next October, an official said.
They would assign 670 personnel, who would be assigned across 38 military posts, to safeguard the 280-kilometer-border.
Pangdam IX Udayana Hotmangaradja Pandjaitan said Wednesday that his personnel could protect the border well.
“We have prepared ourselves well. We are sure that we can guard the border effectively,” he added.
Pandjaitan hoped that his battalion could coordinate with Timor Leste’s security guards to protect the border zone. — JP
