Iwan Fals to start his own company

JAKARTA: Legendary singer Iwan Fals is going to try his luck in another field. After being a singer for more than two decades, the man whose real name Virgiawan Listanto, has decided to established his own company.

"This is not only about the management of Iwan Fals, but we are also going to recruit new actresses and actors," detik.com quoted Iwan as saying on Wednesday.

The company will be involved in actor and actress management, said the man who was born in Jakarta in Sept. 3, 1961.

In the company, named PT. Tiga Rambu, Iwan, who is known for his social critique songs such as "Wakil Rakyat" (People's Representative), "Bento", "Lonteku" (My Whore) and "Ethiopia", will be a commissioner, his wife will be the president director and his daughter Annisa Cikal Rambu Basae will be a director.

Asked about his job description as the company's commissioner, Iwan said, while motioning toward his wife: "I'm only waiting for her decision. Because I still want to play (music) and hold my concerts and tours. My life still revolves around music." -- JP
