JAYAPURA, Papua: Papua Governor Barnabas Suebu has called for "real action" to deal with the growth in the number of people in the province living with HIV/AIDS
AYAPURA, Papua: Papua Governor Barnabas Suebu has called for "real action" to deal with the growth in the number of people in the province living with HIV/AIDS.
"Do not cry for what has already happened, but let us try hard and take real action to prevent its further spread," Barnabas said in a statement released by the Papua AIDS Commission (KPAD).
In a bid to curb the spread of HIV, Barnabas encouraged relevant institutions to collaborate on efforts made in dealing with other infectious diseases such as tuberculosis.
"The public needs to get extensive and clear information on healthy living, HIV/AIDS prevention, nutrition, healthy homes and a clean environment," he said.
He added the administration would develop an HIV/AIDS education program to be broadcast via radio and television.
"Each village will get an aid package of radio, television and solar-cell power," he said. -- JP
