JAKARTA: The city parks agency has completed a green park along Jl. Yos Sudarso and Jl. Perintis Kemerdekaan in North Jakarta, in cooperation with auto manufacturers PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia and PT Toyota Astra.
Governor Fauzi Bowo officiated the park Thursday, according to a press release made available Friday.
Construction of the one-hectare park, called Taman Hijau Toyota, or Toyota Green Park, started in July last year.
"We hope the park will help reduce air pollution in the city," said Toyota Astra president director Johnny Darmawan.
Fauzi said he expected other companies to pay attention to the city's environment.
The park is part of the Toyota Forest and Green Hero program in the Toyota Earth Charter initiative, adopted by Toyota affiliates across the world.* - JP
