Dozens of young men and women gathered under the Indonesian Hindu Youth Alliance (AMHI) banner protesting the development of Lake Buyan by private investors at the Catur Muka junction in Denpasar, Thursday. The protesters, clad in traditional Balinese clothing, held banners and small posters with slogans such as “Fire anti-Hindu government officials” and “Hindu youths reject theatrics in Buyan Lake”. Located in the Sukasada district, Lake Buyan is one of the triplet lakes situated within a massive caldera. A vast wild forest separates Lake Buyan from Lake Tamblingan on its west, while on its east lies Lake Beratan. (JP/Zul Trio Anggono)
