JAKARTA: High tides which have frequently flooded areas of Muara Baru, North Jakarta, have forced at least five fishing companies in the Nizam Zahman seaport to close their business.
Investors in these businesses had withdrawn capital because of worsening business conditions caused by the flooding, said Agus Wibowo, head of the legal and human resources division of Prasarana Perikanan Samudera company.
"And the global economic crisis has made things worse," Agus said on Sunday, as quoted by beritajakarta.com.
Nizam Zahman seaport is home to 35 fishing companies, and five of them have been forced to close, he said. -JP
