ricket Indonesia has won two awards for its commendable development of the sport, the International Cricket Council for the East Asia and Pacific Region announced on Thursday.
The two honors include the Best Junior Cricket Initiative Award and the Lifetime Services Award, which was given to former president of Cricket Indonesia, Alan Wilson.
This makes back-to-back awards for Cricket Indonesia, as it received the Global Award for its program last year.
Cricket Indonesia has been applauded for its U-15 Ultra Milk development program, which this year has seen the game taken into 15 Provinces throughout Indonesia.
The program helps expand the game of cricket in schools and is believed to have reached over 22,000 students in 500 schools.
The program - currently in its second stage - has identified the best players from 16 provinces to take part in the Ultra Milk U-15 National Tournament in May, in the lead up to the ICC U-15 Eight nation's tournament to be held in Indonesia in July this year.
Cricket Indonesia President Tjokorda Raka Keerthayasa hailed the achievements.
"This award is in due recognition of the hard work put in by the coaches, school teachers, managers, etc. This award will motivate us further to develop and deliver quality cricket programs in the future," he said in a statement.
Alan Wilson, meanwhile, was given the Lifetime Service Award for his efforts in developing cricket in Indonesian.
ICC EAP Regional Development Manager Matt Weisheit said: "Alan has been a wonderful servant of Cricket Indonesia over a sustained period of time and is widely acknowledged for helping make the game what it is today in Indonesia. Alan has been incredible with his time, expertise, generosity and the support he has afforded to the development of the game and cricket community in Indonesia and on behalf of the ICC EAP region we congratulate Alan on this well deserved award."
