AKARTA: City police detectives revealed on Friday they had rounded up three foreigners who were allegedly involved in a fraud case, in which an Indonesian teacher had suffered the loss of some Rp 450 million (US$37,500).
Two of the suspects have been identified as David Aloysius (alias "Jeruma") and Samson Babyboy (alias "Faruk").
"They also claimed to be children of a minister in Zimbabwe," city police detective chief Sr. Comr. M. Iriawan said, as quoted by Vivanews.com.
Police said that a woman claiming to be Italian had also been implicated in the case.
The three suspects had allegedly pretended to look for schools in Indonesia and told their victim, Grace Pramutadi, that they had US$2 million worth of savings in a bank but needed a cash advance to withdraw their money.
"The *fraud* incident took place in an apartment in West Jakarta on Tuesday," Iriawan said.
