BA world featherweight boxing champion Chris John is awaiting an offer for a fight, including a possible matchup against Hozumi Hasegawa, the WBC world bantamweight champion from Japan.

Hasegawa is reported to have expressed his interest in a fight against Chris John, soon after the 29-year-old Indonesian defended his WBA featherweight title against Hiroyuki Enoki in Tokyo last year.

"A friend of mine told me Hasegawa wanted to fight me. Basically I'm ready to fight whoever takes up the challenge. If he still wants the fight, he can contact my manager," Chris told The Jakarta Post from his hometown of Banjarnegara, Central Java, on Wednesday.

Hasegawa would be the third Japanese opponent for Chris, following his successful wins over Osamu Sato in 2004 and Enoki, both in Tokyo.

Hasegawa could pose a tough challenge for Chris. He may have lost twice - compared to Chris' undefeated record from 42 fights - in his 26 matches, but the defeats came in early 2000. Since then, the Japanese southpaw has rolled to 23 victories, with the most recent coming over South African Vusi Malinga.

He stopped Malinga in the first of 12 planned rounds last week.

Hasegawa has added to Chris' list of fight options, which includes a possible rematch against American Rocky Juarez, against whom Chris drew last month in Houston, Texas.

However, Chris said his camp had yet to sort out who to fight next.

"We are still arranging the next fight. We don't have a name yet. I'll leave it to my manager to arrange it for me," he said, adding he was resting before deciding on the next step.

At the Toyota Center in Houston, Chris dominated his American foe before letting up in the last rounds to end the fight in a draw and defend his title for 11th time since 2003. It was Chris' second draw, his first coming against Jose Rojas in 2004.

A Juarez rematch is possible after fight promoter and former world champion Oscar De La Hoya was reported to have planned a rematch between the two boxers.
