OGOR: Bogor immigration officers arrested 22 Afghan nationals Thursday in the hilly area of Puncak for entering Indonesia illegally.

Bogor Immigration Office head Ade Endang Dachlan said he suspected a syndicate had trafficked the men into Indonesia.

"This is a mafia's game, we're looking for the person behind this mafia," he said.

The men, aged between 31 and 40 years old, were arrested in Kenanga 2 Hotel in Cipayung and Ragal Hotel at Tugu Selatan village. A preliminary investigation shows the men entered the country without travel documents or visas.

"They say they left their country of origin in a big group of 120 people for Indonesia," Ade said.

"It would seem the foreigners asked for asylum so their case would be handled by the UNHCR *United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees* or the IOM *International Organization for Migration*," he said.

In Bogor, the IOM is currently using nine hotels to shelter 164 asylum seekers. One of the men, Abdul Hamid, was quoted by Antara as saying he entered Indonesia 20 days ago by boat without a passport.
