Candidate dies of exhaustion

BULELENG: Female legislative candidate Putu Lilik Heliawati passed away on Election Day on Thursday, with friends saying she died from exhaustion.

Lilik was running for a seat at the Buleleng regency legislature on the ticket of the People's Conscience Party (Hanura) and was known among fellow party members as a hardworking and determined person.

"Her activities increased significantly 10 days prior to the elections," Hanura Bali head IGN Wididana said Friday.

During that period, she spent her days visiting constituents in Busungbiu and Seririt districts and spent her nights in briefing sessions with party executives. - JP
