A Swiss experience - in a Jakarta shopping mall

If you have ever seen a green cow, it was probably not a real one. But the green wooden cow standing as the mascot of Swiss restaurant March* is the real symbol of March*'s three concepts: Fresh, Healthy and Fast.

The green cows invite guests in Plaza Senayan to come to the fifth floor, where the restaurant is located. Open since April 9, the restaurant has an open kitchen area, allowing guests to see how the food, from salads to grilled meats, is prepared.

Situated in the middle of Europe, the cuisine of Switzerland gets its influence from its neighboring countries, Italy, France and Germany. Therefore, March* serves pasta and pizza from Italy, as well as savory and sweet crepes from France.

The savory crepes are worth a try. The savory filling is made of Emmenthal cheese, saut*ed mushrooms, beef ham and grated carrot, all wrapped up in a crepe and topped with paprika sauce.

Since Switzerland has an agricultural culture, its traditional cuisine includes many potato and cheese dishes, such as R*sti, a delicious potato-based dish.

The potatoes are grated and shaped into rounds or patties, usually measuring between 3-12 centimeters (1 to 5 inches) in diameter and 1-2 centimeters (0.5 inch) thick, and are shallow fried until crisp and golden. In March*, R*sti is served with various sausages, from veal to chicken and cheese, from beef to chicken and chili, all made by March*.

A variety of grilled meats are also featured on the March* menu; the restaurant offers Rib Eye, Tenderloin, Sirloin, Lamb Rack and Chicken Breast, served with baked or mashed potato. As the portions are so large, it may be better to share one between families and friends, so that you still have space for the huge variety of other dishes.

March* is a nice and welcoming venue to bring children as it has a special children's menu called Picky Meals.

Guests can explore Swiss culture through the restaurant's d*cor; the log cabins and cable cars were imported straight from Switzerland and put in place in the two-storey restaurant.

"The guests can dine in March* and have a new experience each visit simply by changing their seat," General Manager Asia Pacific of March* International Andrew Towner said.
