Marcellino lands a classy new job

kapanlagi.com

JAKARTA: Years after graduating from university, actor Marcellino Lefrandt is now back on campus – not as a student, but as a lecturer.

The opportunity, he says, came unexpectedly when he visited his alma mater, Sam Ratulangi University in Manado, to get some information on their magister program.

“I actually wanted to take the magister, but [the university] offered me a lecturer position,” says the 35-year-old graduate of the university’s law school. “Of course, I didn’t say yes immediately. I had so many things to think about.”

But Marcellino decided to take up the offer after securing support from his wife, model Dewi Rezer, and his large family. He is kicking off his teaching career as a lecturer in International Law and Humanitarian Law.

“After a while, I realized that becoming a lecturer would be just the same as studying. I could get more knowledge through this job,” says Marcellino, who now has to commute between Jakarta and Manado for the new position.

Although he has all the confidence he needs whenever he’s in front of the camera, Marcellino says he gets nervous every time he stands before his students.

“I sweat a lot,” he laughs. “But I like it anyway. Teaching takes me back to those days when I was studying at the campus.”

Although he’s enjoying his new job very much, Marcellino says he can’t fight the yearning he feels whenever he has to leave his baby girl Brinette.

“I actually don’t want to miss any moments [in her life],” he says. “But at least Dewi often sends me new photos of Brinette so I won’t feel too bad.” — JP
